9 Cybersecurity Threat Predictions For 2012: Government Technology

On December 7th, 2011, Government Technology reported on a recently released white paper from IT security firm Imperva.  The white paper listed 9 cybersecurity threat predictions for 2012, and some are pretty interesting.  I'm not going to list them all, so check the article or white paper for the rest.  Here's a few of the more interesting threats:

1)  Attacks against SSL vulnerabilities will increase, prompting the search for different ways to authenticate Web communications.

2)  "More sophisticated distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks."

3)  IT professionals concentrating on controlling corporate data flow at endpoints rather than at the source.

4)  "The rise of “cyberbrokers” who match buyers of stolen data with providers of the stolen data."

5)  "Companies making cyber security decisions because of their own needs instead of to meet compliance parameters."
