Iran Moves Websites To Guard Against Cyber Attacks: Reuters

On Dec. 20th, 2011, Ramin Mostafavi reported for Reuters on Iranian efforts to prevent cyberattacks.  According to the article, the Iranian government decided to move most of its government web sites from foreign based hosting companies to Iranian hosting companies.  Previously, the web sites were hosted by companies in North America and elsewhere, and the data stored on those servers "could have been exposed to constant danger at any moment."

However, the article cites one cyberexpert who believes the move will have a limited impact because "the sites can be hacked from any corner of the world. However, it can restrict physical accessibility to the computers that store the data."
