SOPA Delayed, For A Few Weeks

I was eagerly awaiting any news about SOPA's markup hearing, which was supposed to be conducted yesterday (Dec. 21st).  None came, and I ended up figuring out that the markup hearing was canceled.  The Committee on the Judiciary will likely resume markup after the holiday break.

Also, add the conservative Heritage Foundation to the growing list of those opposed to SOPA.  In an article posted to their website, the Heritage Foundation believes that "the legislation addresses a legitimate problem, but it may have unintended negative consequences for the operation of the Internet and free speech."

The Washington Post is reporting that Scribd (a popular online document sharing site) is protesting against SOPA by having words fade out of documents that users are reading.
