Welcome To Critical Infrastructure Protection Month!

There really is a month for everything.  On November 30th, 2011, President Obama released a presidential proclamation declaring that December is critical infrastructure protection month.  President Obama defines critical infrastructure as "all systems and assets, both physical and virtual, that make vital contributions to our security, economic stability, public health, or safety" and says that through this month we "affirm the fundamental importance of our critical infrastructure and recommit to preparing for, responding to, and recovering from hazardous events and emergencies efficiently and effectively."

To reduce cyber risks, President Obama calls for collaboration between critical infrastructure owners, all levels of government, and private citizens so that the US becomes a "culture of resilience."  Finally, to ensure safety of vital operations,  President Obama promises that the US government is "working to give public and private organizations the ability to obtain cybersecurity assistance quickly and effectively."

The proclamation can be found here.
