I missed this one, but better late than never.
On March 2nd, 2012, Jim Finkle reported for Reuters on a recent cyber-attack on NASA. According to the article, a cyber-attack originating from a Chinese-based IP address "broke into the network of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory." The hackers had full access to the JPL's system.
The Reuters article quoted Paul Martin, NASA's IG: "Some NASA systems house sensitive information which, if lost or stolen, could result in significant financial loss, adversely affect national security, or significantly impair our nation's competitive technological advantage."
