On April 4th, 2012, Josh Chin reported for the Wall Street Journal on how Anonymous targeted the public websites of Chinese businesses and governmental bodies. The defaced websites consisted of mostly low level governmental bodies. Specifically, Anon defaced the websites so that they played The Who's "Baba O'Reily" (great song, strange choice) and displayed the following message in English:
Dear Chinese government, you are not infallible, today websites are hacked, tomorrow it will be your vile regime that will fall . . . So expect us because we do not forgive, never. What you are doing today to your Great People, tomorrow will be inflicted to you. With no mercy.
The WSJ questioned why the message was in English. The message was intended to appeal to Chinese internet users, so one would think that it would be in Chinese.
