Infosecurity posted a story on how the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission warned SoCal Edison about its sloppy cybersecurity at its nuclear power plant. Apparently the utility fixed the problems, but I bet that just about every other US nuclear plant has similar vulnerabilities. Maybe it's an encouraging step that the NRC is calling out utilities on poor cybersecurity?

Jason Miller reported for FederalNewsRadio.com on the push for cybersecurity legislation. Apparently DHS put together a demonstration about spear phishing attacks for members of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. The idea was to push the Senate on cybersecurity legislation. Unfortunately, this is the third such demonstration . . . and we're still dragging on cybersecurity legislation.

Interesting story from the website WND. Apparently representatives from the major Chinese telecomm Huawei boasted that Huawei hacked into U.S. telecomm networks. It was slightly unclear whether Huawei was hacking into U.S. networks or just deeply monitoring Chinese networks. Regardless, Huawei has PLA backing, so I wouldn't doubt that it could break into U.S. telecomm networks. Don't forget that the Australians barred Huawei from participing in the construction of their high speed computer networks for similar reasons.
