A little over a week old, but still very interesting. Charlie Osborne reported for ZDnet on the dissolution of the alliance between Wikileaks and the hacker group Anonymous. Anonymous previously “fought for” Wikileaks when Visa/Mastercard stopped processing donations, prompting attacks from the hacker collective. In her article, Osborne explained that Wikileaks erected a paywall around Global Intelligence files, the files famously stolen from Stratfor. This paywall has really irked Anonymous, leading to a statement deriding Wikileaks and a Twitter battle between the two entities. The article quoted the following:
No longer will Anonymous risk prison to defend WikiLeaks or Julian Assange from their enemies. No longer will Anonymous risk prison to supply material for WikiLeaks disclosures. Anonymous turns it’s back on WikiLeaks. WikiLeaks has with it’s actions this past 48 hours betrayed Anonymous, and thus has lost it’s biggest and most powerful supporter.
