On 10/22, Molly Bernhart Walker wrote for FiereceGovernmentIT on NSTIC and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (“CMS”). According to the article, CMS is interested in relying on NSTIC’s federated identity management program as a relying party rather than a credential provider. The article also mentioned that the Office of Management and Budget “is pushing agencies to adopt a federated identity management model that allows trust relationships across agencies, in accordance with NSTIC.”

Finally, an interesting article from Nextgov’s Aliya Sternstein. The above referenced article mentioned that the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators received a $1.6 million NSTIC pilot. According to the Nextgov article, the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators is using that pilot “to let citizens renew driver’s licenses by drawing a passcode with a mouse or finger on a touchscreen — a method with the potential to stanch voter fraud.”
