FBI investigation of Broadwell reveals bureau’s comprehensive access to electronic communications: WashPo

On 11/17, The Washington Post’s Greg Miller & Ellen Nakashima covered the Petraeus-Broadwell affair and questioned the breadth of the FBI’s ability to access e-mails.  Noting that the FBI “was sitting on a mountain of data containing [] private communications” even though it didn’t have evidence of a crime, Nakashima & Miller questioned whether the FBI followed its own internal guidelines, whether it followed minimization procedures, and whether the plain view doctrine applies.

Something I didn’t realize, courtesy of the article: Broadwell was found with classified (albeit unimportant) documents.
