NSTIC update: The Economist/CSO

Quiet night, so I’m going to go back to an article I missed over a week ago.

On 2/9, The Economist posted an article covering online identity verification and the National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace, or NSTIC.  NSTIC is a USG online identity initiative where users would get an identity credential from an identity provider, thereby avoiding weak passwords while improving security and hopefully maintaining anonymity.  NSITC is currently in the pilot stage, and I remember reading that the USPS joined the effort.  Unfortunately, good NSTIC news is few and far between, so I’ll try to update as often as I can.  The Economist article succinctly explored the issues around online identity verification and NSTIC, so I thought it worth your time.  Foreign Policy recently reported on a similar effort by DARPA.

Taylor Armerding wrote for CSO and surveyed the only identity authentication landscape (there is more than one initiative in motion right now) . . .
