Auto-Immune “Symbiotes” Could Be Deployed to Thwart Cyber Attacks: YahooNews

Charles Q. Choi (of Scientific American) wrote for YahooNews on the concept of symbiotes “that could run on embedded computers regardless of the underlying operating systems.”  Choi suggested that it’s difficult to defend embedded computers due to the the incredible diversity of programs that they run.  The solution (the “symbiote”) is to run computer defenses directly on the CPU, functioning “independently of the programs it protects,” thereby allowing for these anti-malware systems “to work on swathes of embedded computers regardless of what systems they run.”
