DOJ plans to prosecute state-sponsored cyberespionage: DefenseNews

Aram Roston, for DefenseNews, with a very interesting development: the DOJ intends to indict state-sponsored hackers.  The article quoted John Carlin, principal deputy assistant AG in the DOJ’s National Security Division: “I’ll give you a prediction . . . Now that we are having people look at bringing one of these [cyberespionage] cases, it’s there to be brought and you’ll see a case bought.”  Interestingly, beyond just prosecuting your usual hackers, Carlin explained that the DOJ may even “name the government behind the operation, or officials in that government” by naming those officials in the indictment.
