“So in order to understand the future of politics, business, diplomacy and other important sectors, one must understand how technology is driving major changes in those areas,” wrote Eric Schmidt and Jared Cohen in their recent book The New Digital Age. They are right about that, at least.
Here is a two-minute video of Joel Brenner and Ken Anderson talking about the need for engineers and lawyers to learn about each other’s fields if we are to increase our level of cyber security. This is an enormous challenge for us educators working to prepare the world’s next leaders.
The very nature of cyberspace — most especially its ubiquity — makes it the ultimate interdisciplinary challenge, in my view. I would very much like to hear from anyone with suggestions on how to get about fusing engineers and lawyers.
