Field Hearing entitled “Hacked Off: Helping Law Enforcement Protect Private Financial Information” | House Committee on Financial Services

On June 29, 2011, the United States House of Representatives Committee on Financial Services held a hearing entitled “Hacked Off: Helping Law Enforcement Protect Private Financial Information.” The prepared testimony of four witnesses can be found on the Committee’s website.  MSNB reported on the hearing in an article entitled “How the Secret Service stalks cyber criminals: Some juicy details of embedding and infiltration are divulged at hearing.”  The blog Cryptome also reported on the event, noting: “[T]his is one of the first times a federal official has spoken on the record about the extent of law enforcement penetration.”  Cryptome also provided background information on and photographs of the United States Secret Service  National Computer Forensics Institute (NCFI).
