Several nations trying to penetrate U.S. cyber-networks, says ex-FBI official: WashPo

On April 18th, 2012, Ellen Nakashmina reported for the Washington Post on recent comments by Shawn Henry, the FBI's former top cyber official.  According to Henry, at least 6 countries with offensive cyber capabilities are probing U.S. networks for a toehold "should they one day want to disrupt or destroy the networks."

Henry declined to mention which countries are looking for those destructive toeholds.  We can probably say that China, Iran, and Russia are 3 of the 6.  I would guess N. Korea is the 4th.  I'm not sure about the last two.

One last quote from Henry: “I know a lot of companies have suffered [from cyberattacks], and they are going to want to see somebody come in and assist them . . . It won’t be the U.S. government . . . so it’s going to have to be the private sector.”
